What the Body Remembers

Poem 7

Memory Gone By

1 min · 1 min left

In cool blue skin, blood red warm we cuddled beneath the sheets I laid my head soft upon your pale chest slid my fingers across your silky sleeping face and photographed the colorful memory. At golden dawn our bodies parted silent tongues, blazoned eyes cried my heart beat swollen within my chest I folded my arms around my shoulders as sadness poured from the ended memory.

I sit silent in the black air upon velvet throws sorting through vivid portraits of you and I encased, folded and moist against stained glass windows and damp cement tormented by thoughts of a memory gone by.

Slowly colorful flashes fade to gray I pick up a yellow rose lay it across barren grounds sob in pain as my heart splits in two at the lost of words such as I love you and I drown in a memory gone by.

If I could go back to orange summer sun hold your body heated next to mine cry on your extended shoulder and whisper in your ear, I love you, again and again if only I could recapture the lost memory.
